For Yoga Teachers and Yoga Therapists

Why this guide?

Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 women worldwide, and many yoga teachers already have students living with endometriosis in their classes, sometimes without even realizing it.

This guide is designed to help you grow on the path of becoming a more informed and confident teacher. It shares concise lessons into 5 key insights drawn from a decade of experience — teaching yoga teachers and women with endometriosis, studying the condition, and applying yoga in practice.

It’s a thoughtful starting point to help you feel more informed in your practice and teaching. These lessons lay the foundations for approaches that go beyond “one-sequence-for-all” or symptom-based methods — what I call yogapathy — and instead anchor teaching in reference points that are thoughtful, compassionate, and rooted in yoga, science, and lived experience.

In this guide, you’ll touch on the essentials of how to:

  • See the student as a whole person, not just the condition.

  • Move beyond “poses for menstrual pain” or fixed sequences.

  • Honor fluctuation and variability in pain, fatigue, and energy.

  • Look beyond symptoms to support systemic balance (nervous, immune, endocrine, digestive).

  • Create space for agency and trust, so your student feels safe and empowered.

I am Aurélie Maire

Yoga Educator, published Author, certified yogatherapist, specialized in women’s health and endometriosis, Naturopath, Women’s health coach, Biochemist and human nutrition engineer.

Since 2017, I have been supporting women who seek a simple and personalized holistic approach to naturally relieve endometriosis pain and (re)live their lives with endometriosis, no longer dictated by it, by restoring balance in the body, mind, and spirit through the tools of yoga, naturopathy, and Ayurveda.

As a yoga mentor and educator specializing in women’s health, particularly in areas such as endometriosis, menstrual and reproductive health,  and mental health, I have trained hundred of yoga teachers and health professionals in supporting women through personalized yoga and holistic therapeutic practices.

I actively share my insights as a lecturer and speaker at schools, universities, conferences, and corporations. I also participate in press interviews and have been a guest on podcasts, where I shed light on the interconnectedness of women’s holistic health, scientific research, and the practice of yoga.

I am a published author, with my first book on endometriosis released in French in 2022, and my second book on yogatherapy and menstrual health in the final stages of writing.

My teaching harmoniously blends Western knowledge of the body and mind (including science, biochemistry, and neuroscience) with the traditional disciplines of yoga, yoga therapy, mindfulness, and holistic lifestyle practices.

Compassion, empathy, humility, and a personalized holistic approach are the principles that guide me throughout this journey.
