Golden milk (Golden milk) and moon milk (Moon milk) are two essential drinks in Indian culture and Ayurvedic medicine. They are full of benefits: anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, they support digestion and the immune system…
You can consume them throughout the year or as a cure of a few weeks, especially in preparation for the winter season. We talk more frequently about golden milk or golden milk but his sister moon milk or moon milk is just as interesting to bring back and maintain our balance.
Let’s start by talking about Ayurveda, this millennial traditional medicine.
Ayurveda, traditional Indian medicine
In Sanskrit, “Aur” means life, and “Vera” means science or knowledge. Created by the Rishis, the Sages of classical India, “Ayurveda” can therefore be literally translated into the “science of life, knowledge of life or longevity”.
Ayurveda is one of the traditional medicines recognized and listed by the WHO (World Health Organization), along with naturopathy or traditional Chinese medicine, as a natural, traditional and integrative health system.
It is above all a holistic and preventive medicine system
Ayurveda is the sister science of yoga that is dedicated to balancing mind and body. Several thousand years ago, in India, Ayurveda was developed as a system to diagnose imbalances in the body and mind that eventually manifest themselves in the form of diseases, malaise and other symptoms. It is thus a question of bringing back balance in the body through a lifestyle adapted to the person, the use of plant formulas and other adapted natural remedies.
Ayurveda is based on the theory of the 5 elements.
- The ether
- The Air
- The Fire
- The Earth
- The Water
These elements form the doshas (body moods) which are three doshas: vata, pitta and kapha.
The three doshas are present in everyone, but the relationship between them varies greatly from one person to another.
The Ayurvedic constitution of each person is characterized by a specific combination of these 3 doshas that is our own. The different proportions of Doshas determine a person’s physiological and personality traits, as well as his tastes and aversions.
It is Prakriti the native constitution or state of equilibrium, which is the guarantor of the maintenance of our good health.
We also have a state of equilibrium (vikriti) that represents the doshas that are raised in our body at some point. If doshas accumulate beyond healthy limits (those determined by our constitution), they can cause imbalances, symptoms and diseases.
In the context of endometriosis, for example, the 3 doshas are involved.
Natural care, lifestyle, diet or the consumption of spices must be adapted according to our dosha, the season or our state of imbalance at the moment.
In the context of endometriosis, for example, the 3 doshas are involved.
Golden milk will advantageously have its place in the advice given to the person to better live endometriosis naturally. It is also for this reason that I proposed this recipe for golden milk in my book “Better living endometriosis au naturel” published by Editions Leduc.
Golden milk or golden milk
It is a comforting and creamy blend of spices that will boost your immunity. It is particularly recommended during the autumn / winter seasons for this reason.
But this Ayurvedic elixir has many other benefits: anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, it also supports digestion. This is also appreciable in case of endometriosis for example.
Golden milk is beneficial for the three doshas.
Turmeric soothes the three doshas. It has a blood purification role. It is anti-inflammatory and facilitates transit.
Ginger promotes agni (digesive fire): Pitta.
Black pepper soothes Kapha.

The “Moon Milk” or Moon Milk
Moon milk also has anti-inflammatory properties thanks to the combination of turmeric and pepper.
So a mixture of turmeric and pepper but also saffron, nutmeg cinnamon, chamomile, basil and rose, moon milk has soothing and relaxing properties.
It helps to calm the nervous system and is recommended in case of nervous tension, stress, anxiety or difficulty falling asleep.
Through a clever combination of Ayurvedic plants and spices, golden milk and moon milk will advantageously contribute to a return to balance in the event of inflammation, immune system or weak digestion or unbalanced doshas.
